Summary: This is a short one-shot thing I wrote one day. Sam is absent from school, and Carly gts worried about her. I hope to continue this one day...as soon as I decide why Sam is absent...I have no idea yet.

	The Abscence of Sam

Chapter One-

School was getting tiresome.

I know I sound like Sam, but it really was. I got up at the same time every day, went to the same school, saw the same people looking at me, and did the same things. Learn a few things I didn't know before and will forget as soon as I graduate.

This morning I woke up at 5:30, like normal. I went downstairs and Spencer was in the kitchen fixing breakfast. We ate and parted ways. It was normal.

I got to school. I put my backpack in my locker and removed my burdensome textbooks from its boring metal innards. I closed my locker and waited for Sam.

I waited for a longer time than before. She didn't come. Freddie came, though, so I asked him.

"Where's Sam?" I asked shortly, feeling disturbed.

"I don't know." He said. "It's disturbing."

"That's what I was just thinking! She hasn't missed school since, you know…"

Freddie nodded. We all remembered. The last time Sam missed school was when she checked herself into a mental hospital. As much as she hated school, Sam was adamantly against staying home unless something was wrong, so I was worried.

I worried all day. The day dragged on, but I heard and saw nothing. I drowned in my stress and the only thing I could think about was Sam. She was always there. _We_ were always there. Together. What if she checked herself into the hospital again? What if she got arrested? What if she was really sick?

Each class got longer, and each classmate multiplied so that they were everywhere. I felt their glares bore into me every time I stepped on their feet. They were impossible to avoid. They swarmed around the room and crawled over the hallways, covering every inch of space that was not filled with absence. The absence of Sam.

She was all I wanted.
